W&B’s Senior Partner Shenmin Xu Invited by Japan Patent Office to Deliver a Lecture on Chinese Patents

Upon invitation from the Japan Institute for Promoting Invention and Innovation (the “JIII”), from November 18th to November 20th, 2015 W&B Senior Partner Shenmin Xu delivered a lecture entitled Briefing and Flexible Application of Patent Infringement Lawsuits Involving Chinese Utility Models and Design Patents as part of a series of special lectures on the Chinese patent system that was hosted by the Japan Patent Office in Osaka, Nagoya and Tokyo.
About 800 IP rights professionals, patent attorneys and other lawyers attended the lectures in the foregoing cities, and warmly welcomed the lectures Mr. Xu thoroughly responded to questions from the attendees and actively discussed relevant issues with them after the conclusion of the lecture.
Established in 1904, the JIII is an external organization of the Japan Patent Office with a history going back more than a century. Headquartered in Tokyo, the JIII maintains branches in 47 Japanese cities. The JIII is sponsored by the Japanese government and presently boasts approximately 10,000 members, including corporations and other legal entities as well as private citizens. The JIII engages in the popularization and promotion of patent-related knowledge, the cultivation of innovation abilities and the support of small and medium-sized enterprises. In particular, the JIII places great emphasis on the popularization of patent systems, the flexible application of patent information, international communication and cooperation and local developments, investigations and surveys.
