Mr. Xu is the senior founding partner at Watson and Band Law Offices in Shanghai and an arbitrator for the Shanghai Arbitration Commission.

Graduating from the Machinery Department of Shanghai University, Mr. Xu started his career in the intellectual property at the State Intellectual Property Office, Shanghai Branch, where he served as an officer from 1980 to 1984. In the same year, he obtained his Patent Attorney Qualification and joined the Shanghai Patent and Trademark Agency, where he served as the Director of the Exploitation Department and Legal Department until 1994. 

A pioneer in the legal field, Mr. Xu earned his Lawyer Qualification Certificate in 1986 by passing China's first Bar Qualification Test. To further enhance his expertise, he pursued advanced studies in Patent Law in Japan from 1987 to 1988, adding international perspective to his practice. 

Throughout his career, Mr. Xu has successfully handled numerous domestic and international patent applications and has been involved in hundreds of intellectual property litigation cases. Notably, Mr. Xu successfully represented the first case involving a Japanese company's litigation against a Chinese company and the first patent infringement case between two foreign companies in China.

Mr. Xu's particular expertise lies in intellectual property laws, with a focus on industrial property-related legislation. As a thought leader in the field, he has published dozens of research papers, contributing significantly to the development and understanding of IP law in China.
