Ms. Yiwen Huang is Of Counsel at Watson and Band Law Offices in Shanghai, bringing extensive expertise in intellectual property law.

Ms. Huang's journey in the field of intellectual property began with her BS degree in Automatic Machinery from Shanghai Second Industry University in 1981. This technical foundation proved invaluable in her subsequent roles. From 1981 to 1985, she honed her skills as a patent researcher at the Shanghai Science and Technology Institute, where her aptitude for patent analysis and research became evident.

In 1986, Ms. Huang achieved a significant milestone by obtaining her patent attorney qualification. This certification marked the beginning of her specialized career in patent law. From 1985 to 2002, she served as a patent attorney at the prestigious Shanghai Patent and Trademark Office. During this period, she focused on patent prosecution in the machinery and electronics sectors, developing a deep understanding of complex technical patents.

Recognizing the importance of global patent knowledge, Ms. Huang pursued further studies in patent prosecution in Japan in 1988. This international exposure significantly enhanced her capabilities, particularly in handling Japanese patent applications. Over her 17-year tenure as a patent attorney, she successfully managed more than 1,000 Japanese patent applications, establishing herself as a leading expert in this niche area.
